    Arbaminch and Dorze Village

The beautiful town of Arba Minch (Forty Springs) is located on the edge of Netch Sar National Park. Arba Minch is an ideal base to explore the southernmost of Ethiopia’s Rift Valley Lakes- Chamo and Abaya as well as the scenic Nech Sar National Park and the adorable Dorze villages at Chencha. The beautiful Nech Sar National Park is home to a handful of mammals and birdlife. A narrow stretch of beautiful mountain landscape locally known as God’s Bridge separates the two lakes. The forest along the forty springs is a very popular destination for swimming and trekking in addition to its cultural significance. Lake Chamo is frequently visited for its Nile Crocodiles, Hippos, and aquatic birds. The highland village of Chencha, home of the Dorze people, is known for its beautifully made bee-hive-shaped bamboo houses, vibrant music, and quality weaving.

An early start heading south through the Guraghe Highlands and the rolling hillsides of Wolayta onto Arba Minch. The long drive will be enjoyable thanks to the changing landscape and vegetation. We will have a lunch stop at Wolaita Sodo. After lunch continues the drive skirting the western shores of Lake Abaya. Before arriving in Arba Minch, we will make a short detour to Chencha, the home of the Dorze people, known for its beautifully made bee-hive-shaped bamboo houses, vibrant music, and quality weaving. We will visit the beautiful houses dominated by its Enset(False banana) gardens and learn the preparation of Koncho from harvesting to serving and get immersed into the cultural dance. Finally, proceed onto Arba Minch (Forty Springs) en route to enjoy the sunset. Overnight at Arba Minch in a hotel.
After breakfast, we head south onto Lake Chamo and enjoy a boat ride to spot aquatic birds, hippos, and the famous Crocodile market! Afternoon, walk through the riverine forest locally called Forty Springs and enjoy swimming while spotting monkeys and baboons. We will have a drink in one of the resorts ideally situated overlooking the scenic landscape over Nechsar National Park including the ‘Bridge of God’. Evening we will have a campfire
Today we will set off on our return trip to Addis Ababa. Though long, we will use the road that passes through Shashemene and Rift Valley Lakes to have a different taste!
